By the end of this foundation course, students will be able to:

  • Pronounce Te Reo Māori words by sight and know why that matters
  • Articulate how places, people and land are interconnected and how this influences behaviours and perspectives
  • Describe ways that colonialism has impacts for Māori today and to identify decolonising behaviours and action
  • Demonstrate how Māori exercised rights and interests prior to 1840
  • Explain how Te Tiriti is relevant to their profession today
  • Seek to understand - Provide examples of how they can utilise this newfound understanding in their own professional context or life.
